Can I keep OFFICE 2007 alongside Office 2010

    Hi there
Just a quicky -- apart from using say a VM for testing Office 2010 I'd like to install on an existing machine so I can compare immediately if there are any significant differences between Office 2007 and 2010 before deploying for a lot of users.

I've never tried running two versions of office on the same machine -- are there any implications such as incompatable DLL's with the same name etc.

Anybody runnung both versions (32 bit even though I'm running W7 X-64).

    Cheers

I had installed Office 2010 and Office 2007 version side by side. Had no problems, but confusion sometimes.

Sorry Jimbo, we tried a pilot like that and the hook points where 2007 and 2010 interact with the OS are the same with one exception. It's going to be interesting to do it SxS (side by side). Apart from performance why is visualization out?

You can have both Office 2007 and 2010 installed side by side with one exception. You can only have 1 version of Outlook so 2010 will replace Outlook 2007 with Outlook 2010. Hope that helps.

Outlook. Yup, that's what it was that screwed things up. Something about MAPI as I recall now.

    Hi all

    Thanks for the replies

Virtualisation is out in this case --its great for TESTING software but I need to check how Office 2010 compares with Office 2007 on a "Real Users" machine as this product is going to be deployed to several hundred users.

Virtualisation is also great for "Proof of Concept" type tests -- i.e does the software work and is it applicable for our environment but it's not always so easy putting this into a "production" type environment.

I managed to get another "Test Machine" so I think I'll install from new and check against 2007 using 2 machines.

    Cheers
