Hello, Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2000 32-bit installed flawlessly on a new OEM Windows 7. Originally, Windows 7 would go to sleep and the hard drive light flashed only during an I/O operation.
Somewhere in the installation of Office 2000 and MS Security Essentials the procedure set the time-out for Windows Sleep to 2 hours. I changed that back to 5 minutes and the BIOS to S1 power management. Now my computer sleeps. Now I get the constant HD light flickering every 2 seconds. The suggestions on these forums for flickering HD light all have to do with Windows tweaks.
So, my question: in Office97 we turned off the index daemon that constantly ran in the background trying to optimize file search. Does Office2000 have the same indexing? I have googled and 'indexing' does not pertain to the Office software, it is referred to as one of the Windows features, or 'indexing' is referred to as a function in Office that makes Table of Contents or Appendixes.
Am I calling the 'file indexing' the wrong term for Office2000 and does that software try to optimize searching? What should I search for? Thanks in advance.
