    Help - Outlook 2010

    Please can someone explain?

I have just got a new pc with windows 7 & office 2010. I am trying to sort Outlook 2010 but am getting so confused & frustrated. I have 3 email address's that I use that are all pop 3 accounts. I set them all up in outlook & they were working fine other than having each one get a copy of the others in the files that are on the right hand side of the screen.
1st question - why has 3 lots of inboxes (1 for each account) appeared on the right hand side? This didn't happen in Outlook 2007. All 3 emails went into the 1 inbox!

I have pst fies from outlook 2007 on an external hard drive that have been recoved from my old pc that I imorted into outlook 2010 using the import tool. Since I have done this outlook has gone crazy. Am only recieving 1 out of the 3 emails. I have not changed the account details at all. When I test the accounts with test emails each one says it is ok but I do not receive the email. However when I look on the webmail they are there.

Please can someone help me out?
    This is driving me nuts!!

One workaround that you can use, (even with IMAP / Exchange / Connector accounts), is to use rules to move all items arriving in the inboxes of the accounts into one account's inbox.

You still have the multiple entries but all the actual mail is in one place

I actually go further with my set-up of multiple IMAP and Connector, (live) accounts and use rules to move incoming mail from all accounts into sub-folders of one IMAP account which I use as a master.

This works on both my desktop and netbook and thus auto synchronises both systems mail

    Thanks for that.

Do you think it would be better to import data from previous pst files first before creating email accounts? or vice versa?

If you import the previous emails prior to setting up the IMAP account or afterwards is not really an issue although it's easier, I think, to create the structure using what ever you had previously

Once the setup is there select which imap account you wish to be master, and create this, and as many subsidiary accounts as you need

Once you have the imap accounts set-up and the old items imported you can then simply drag and drop the old items into the Master IMAP account File structure and they will be synchronised between your local store and the IMAP server.

Once all the folders/mails are in the Master IMAP account delete any POP3 accounts

If you are going to move all mails to the master inbox simply write a rule for all incoming mail to be moved to the master inbox in each subsidiary account. (when creating the rule, do not set any criteria other than the move to folder)

If you wish to sort mails on arrival - run the system for a while writing the rules in the subsidiary accounts to move emails direct to sub folders in the master account. you can also add rules in the master account to

OK can you let me know you email provider(s) and I will see if I can find the settings required for IMAP. most issues are caused by the incorrect port numbers being defaulted to in Outlook.

Note I do not need any personal informations about your account, just the basic provider information
