    NOTEPAD question/problem

I'm running Windows 7 on my Acer laptop and recently got rid of Office 2007 and installed Office 2003, and it is working just fine. However, I've recently noticed that when I use the "Find" feature in NotePad, it works sometimes, and other times it does not. I've tried checking the spelling, case sensitive check box, and the radio buttons for UP and Down (which seems like a ridiculous feature if you ask me), but it is hit or miss.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Is your problem with Office Word, or Notepad? One is a Office program, but the other isn't. Please confirm what program you actually having a problem with.

    Hi michaelas & welcome

Notepad isn't a part of any MS Office suite, it's a part of Windows. You find it from the Start button in All Programs... Accessories.
Is this what you are referring to?

More general details are needed if you are to seek help in any Office area too..

How did you uninstall Office 2007?

Did you upgrade from XP 32-bit or 64-bit?

Are you currently using Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

It would benefit you & help us if you would fill in your system specs as per the advice below in my signature.

    Sorry.
I'm having the problem with Notepad.
(I thought it was part of the Office Suite.)

    INFO -
My laptop, Acer Aspire, came with Window 7 Home Premium installed, 64 bit.
    (AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual-Core Processor TK-42 1.60GHz)

I went back and experimented with the Find feature on Notepad once again.
-It seems to work most of the time, if I'm at the top of the page, but the Down button must be selected. I guess that's why it is there.
-If I'm at the bottom of the page it does not always work, even selecting the Up button.
-"Match Case" check box seems to be on by default most of the time, even if it is not checked.

All in all, it works, but not all the time; it seems very twitchy. And to be honest I don't really use Notepad that much in depth that I need the find feature. TBH Until I used it this morning I didn't know Notepad HAD a Find feature! :)

    (FYI -
The Office suite I had was Office 2007 trial which ended last month, so I opted to install Office 2003 using a downloaded software for the purpose - I think it was "RipoutOffice2007". Anyway, the office suite is working fine. No complaints thus far.)

That is the draw back of built-in software. MS doesn't exactly spend a whole lot of time refining all the features. Thats one of the reasons why people prefer to use Word over notepad of word processing. Everything in Word is just better, because they have an entire department refining every little aspect of it.
