Can't open Word attachment in message?

I get the following message. " there was a probem sending the command to the program" This makes using word almost impossible. Any ideas anyone?

I can't even open a word doc saved to my desktop.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Hi there, can you open word in general without a crash? If you can, can you create, save and re-open a doc newly created? Whats your version of Office and is it up-to-date according to windows update?

Is the attachment in Outlook (what version) or Windows Mail?

Outlook 2007. Yes, I can create and save documents, and WORD opens fine, but when I try to open a word doc from outlook or desktop, my screen goes black breifly, then I get the permission security yes/no question. When I click yes, it simply opens WORD 2007, not the doc.

Whats the origin of the file as ive never known outlook/office to ask for permission to open an attachment! Have you tried to save the attachment and then open it from the save location? You mention word 2007, I take it you have Office 2007 installed? Is it up to date as this does have a large amount of updates? :)

The origin of the files doesn't matter. It's the same result all the way around. Yes, Office 2007 Pro. Iv'e never heard of this either. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Office three times. Results all always the same, and Word is the only program that asks permission in Office. It's got to be a WORD security setting of somekind. All updates have been done regularly.

    Update

Turns out it's a UAC probelm. When I put the UAC contral bar all the way to the bottom, WORD works like it is supoose to. Any other position, and it does like I described above. Never heard of this. I'm not sure which is worse, UAC not on, or the WORD problem. Suggestions??
