    Outlook 2010 and GMail

    Evening all,

Forgive me if I'm asking a stupid or repeat question; 'search' has been my friend, but my brain at two a.m. may not have been!

Basically, I am off to university in a few days. I am trying to set up Outlook 2010 in order to consolidate my personal email (GMail mainly) and my Uni email (some sort of Outlook Live account?).

The problem I'm facing is, Outlook seems intent on syncing up with GMail and storing everything in the PST file.

I was wondering; is there a way to make Outlook only store messages locally if they are in the GMail inbox? I'm enjoying the way you can drag and drop emails into folders in order to label and archive them in GMail itself, but this email remains stored locally, beefing up the size of the PST - can I set Outlook up so that after I drag it into say, the 'Uni' folder, it is archived as usual in GMail but effectively removed from my PC?

I have unsubscribed from my GMail labels in Outlook, but no luck still.

The same question goes for the Uni address, which is also an IMAP setup, but one step at a time!

    Thanks!

Have you set up your Gmail account as an IMAP account, or POP3?

IMAP. Sorry for omitting that vital detail!
