    Office 2007 and dual booting - licence question


    Hi folks,

    Im right in the middle of installing W7 as a dual boot with Vista.

    My Vista is 3 years old and OEM, the W7 is new and full retail.

    its just dawned on me that i will need to re-install office that I have. I have this slight dread that office works the same as windows in terms of OEM and retail?

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    I have Office 2007 Student edition - it came with multiple licences but i cant remember how many
    how can i tell if its OEM or Retail?
    Whats the score when moving office from:
    a) one OS to another OS on the same machine?
    b) having the same licence in both OS's on the same machine using dual boot.

    Advice much appreciated and happy to find more info if i know what to get and how to get it!

    The version of office 2007 I have Purchased is a standard 3 user license. I have office 2007 installed in the exact same scenario as you are now running (Vista + Windows 7).

    My interpretation of the EULA for Office 2007 is 1 license for each OS/Partition. = 2 users

    I also have my 3rd user license installed on my old Computer with no problems with activating on any of the OS/Partitions

    PS: I know most versions of Office 2007 Home and Student retail were sold allowing 3 users (Canada) but with the Introduction of Key Cards I cannot be certain.

    i guess my question is getting a bit more technical....

    but if i had office 2007 (1 of the 3 student licences) installed in my Vista OS and then I create a new partition on which I install Win 7 and then i uninstall Office 2007 from Vista and then reinstall it on Win 7 - have i broken any licencing laws?

    Its still on the same PC and only one installation of it exists.

    Actually you can have Office 2007 installed on both the Vista & windows 7 partitions and still only use 2 of 3 activations and have 1 license to spare.

    When I originally bought Office 2007 I wanted to install it on 2 computers but since I joined this forum the two Computers I own are now duel boots = 4 partitions.

    I have Office 2007 installed on 3 of the 4 partitions (3 user License), I just have to remember which partitions I have Office 2007 installed to to avoid an accidental 4th activation.
