Irene, thanks for your reply. I have tried installing and running in XP SP2 compatibility. It runs and can syncronise mail but the problem is only when trying to import my pst contact list. It may be a Win 7 issue or possibly another issue. I have heard that some have got Outlook running on Windows 7 so thats what gave me hope. Unfortunately it will cost me $300 to upgrade to an office suite that includes Outlook 2010. Actually I only need it to manage my pst contact list. If there were alternatives I would consider that. After exhausting all other possibilities I may install it in XP virtualisation mode although that will slow down my older p4 a bit.

Hi Chris. Instead of trying to import your PST, try this instead:
In Outlook 2000, export your contacts to a Comma Separated Value (Windows) file. In Outlook 2010, import that file for your contacts. That should work.
