Windows 7 - Outlook 2007 doesn't remember window size

I've just installed Windows 7-64 and Office 2007. When I open Outlook the window size is half the screen. I would like it bigger and drag the bottom of the window to the bottom of the screen. When I close Outlook and re-open, it reverts to the old window size and does not remember what I had set it to. How can I get it to remember the size it want?

Try maximizing, then closing it and re-opening. After re-opening it should come up as full screen (maximized). Then restore down and size it to the way you want it. Next time you open it, it should retain that window size.

If you want it to be maximized (full screen), always close it when it's maximized. If you want it to be a particular window size, always close it when it's at that window size and location.

This works for almost all application windows.

If that doesn't work, we'll have to look at the properties of the shortcut you use to start Outlook. We'll save that for later, however, as I doubt you changed any of those settings, right?

Following mikedl's advice helped me make a bit of a discovery with this issue.

What I wanted was for Outlook to fill my screen from top to bottom. When I drag the bottom of the window down to the taskbar, the window lights up blue. When I close and re-start, it does not 'remember' that setting. However, if I drag the bottom of the window down very close to the taskbar but not touching it and without the screen turning blue, when I shut down and re-start, the setting is remembered. 1. You already have the answer..... enlarge the bottom portion but don't go over the taskbar. Outlook remembers the setting.

2. If you HAVE to have the bottom of the Outlook window all the way to the bottom of the screen.......
unlock the taskbar > Properties > Taskbar tab > " auto-hide " the taskbar > OK

I know it was the answer. What Mike didn't say was that if you resize but hit the taskbar, Outlook forgets the setting, even if you maximized first as he suggested. I was just adding in that extra possibility.

FWIW, I'm hip to item 2 about the taskbar. Personally, I like to see it at all times. Thanks for your reply...KK

I still have the Outlook 2010 window not restoring properly at times. It does appear to be an issue, however, the methods I presented earlier will help to alleviate the occurrence of such.

From the way the OP replied, I took it as the answer given had not completely fixed or answered the question asked. I just merely asked why was it not enough.

Last time another OP asked which one's suggestion ( I and another member ) she should follow.
I replied that she shouldn't ask question like that because it put the two of us in awkward situation. I said light heartedly that none of the suggestions would make the computer blow up, and that she should try one, if that did not work, try the other one.
I was subsequently warned by the moderator of being rude to the OP. That intention was never in my mind.
Although English is my 3rd language, I don't think my English is in any way inferior or inadequate by comparison.
Perhpas I learned English from a different country.
I have nothing to apologize for, as I have not intended to offend.
