Excel 2003 quits When I change the formatting on a spreadsheet, ie. portrait to landscape, regular to bold font, etc, and try to save the file, I get an dialog box that says that Excel 2003 has quit, Windows 7 is trying to find out why, and I lose the editing done in that session. It happened 8+ times working on the same file. Any ideas????? | My System Specs |

The computer is new and I've got the automatic updates turned on so I assume I have all the latest updates installed. The file was originally a .csv download that I saved as an Excel 2003 spreadsheet. | My System Specs | | |

The only thing that you have to do is be sure of what SP you have and then download the others.
Just a little extra advice. Before each one, make a system restore point and then test it be sure that everything is up to expectations. If you are satisifed make a new System Restore point and then install the SP
The System Restore can be used to remove the SP if Excel starts to behave in away that you find unsatisfactory. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

If this happens on 1 Excel file, but not on other Excel files, it clearly is a problem with this particular file rather than Excel per se.
Did this file work OK at one time and has only recently become problematic?
Have you tried to copy the data into a new Excel file?
Have you redownloaded the file?
Have you tried a format other than CSV?
Have you tried saving with some other Excel file extension, if any are available? I don't recall Excel 2003, but multiple extensions are available in Excel 2007. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;
