Are you talking about the size of the app on the Desktop or the size of the Word page when MS Word is open?

If you're referring to the size of the Word page when MS Word is open, go to the Zoom control at the bottom-right corner of every Word doc which controls the size of the page. Don't use the "Maximize"1" icon in the upper-right corner of your window to enlarge your doc. Instead, when one of your windows opens and is too small, try changing the Zoom number to the size you want, and close Word. When you re-open Word your word page should be the size you Zoomed to.

If this doesn't work, you can open the Ribbon, go to Page Layout, and then the Page Setup section. Click on Page Size and follow the on screen directions. Then go into the View section, select Zoom, and set your Zoom size.

If you were talking about your Desktop, you can manually placing your cursor on each edge of the window, and dragging that edge out to the edge of the screen --- thereby manually maximizing the page. (Again, don't use the Maximum Size 1 button in the upper-right side of the toolbar.) Then reboot. You may have to do this a few times, but Word should remember the new page size after one or two reboots, and open all pages to that size every time.

    Thank you.
Let me clear so you understand the nature of my request. Sorry my English is poor.

Sometimes -not always- when I click a Word 2010 file in order to be opened the file is opened at my screen but it is about 2 inches high and 1 inch wide.
Which is the way to change that?
Also, is it possible to have specific Word docs to be opened with particular sizes. Obviously I would like the majority to be opened maximized, that is, covering my whole screen.
If I am not wrong I think in the past I found a shortcut or way before closing a file telling the file in which size should be opened next time.

    Am I clear?
    Thanks and God bless

I know what exactly your problem is. This happened to me just a few hours ago and all answers I found online was pointing it on "Zoom" and then changing the landscape, etc. And all of it simply doesn't solve the problem. Still the page was 2 inches higher and then around an inch wider. But I found a way to solve it.

Click on File>scroll down to "Options"
and a pop-up window will appear.
Click Display from the side panel, and put CHECK on the following:

-Show white space between pages in Print Layout Preview
    -Show highlighter marks
-Show document tool tips on hover

    that's it! :)
I posted it for those who will might encounter the same problem in the future.

Small Window opens in Word 2013 also can be Resized

Imperfect1 - Your reply works and is also relevant to Word 2013.
The adjustment of the Zoom in the bottom left corner, initially appears to adjust only the font size and is a little confusing.
It seems to also be relevant to the window size. If you set the zoom to 100% and then adjust the window size to where you want it to be, then save the document, then next time you open the document it opens at the same size as it was saved.
