    Office 10 and windows 7

I had office 2007 on this laptop but then I reformatted my hard drive. I put programs and music back on after reformat but Office was not one of them. So i tried installing office 10 from disc with legitimate serial number and it wont install. It starts installation and green loading bar starts to move but immediately stops and says that it occurred an error but gives no error code. I have read several threads on different sites that say to use control panel and un-install previous versions but i do not have any installed. All drivers are current. Any idea? Im installing on windows professional 64bit and the office program is for both 64 and 86. It is starting to make me crazy cuz i need word for school and always have to use a different PC just to do homework.

Have a look here; Fixed Office 2010 Install Failed Error – Uninstall Office 2010 Manually
    I hope this helps you

I understand what you wrote but might be worthwhile going through this anyway incase some remnants were left after the failed install

I actually had the same issue when I was installing Project 2010. Spent tons of time on the phone with Microsoft support. They hooked me up with a .bat file that fixed the issue which turned out to be a problem with Windows Installer. Just drag it into a cmd window, so you can see the output.

Nothing works. I have uninstalled everything, deleted all folders and deleted registry's that were all suggested to do. Still nothing. It does the same thing, starts to install then rolls back and says an error occurred.

Try copying the Office disk to your hard drive and installing from there.
