    Outlook 2010 Crashes PC

    Hi guys

    Anybody any ideas why when I attempt to open Outlook 2010 as its loading it crashes my PC - that is the PC just turns off and goes to startup. I'm running W7 Home Premium and installed Office from a disk - all other programmes work fine but this annoying.

    Deebhoy welcome,

    * What is being logged to the Event Viewer about this?
    Start > under start search Event viewer > Windows Logs > Application
    See whether any errors related to Outlook are there .

    * Does it work in Outlook Safe Mode?
    Start-> type; outlook.exe /safe
    (note the space in the command)

    * FYI -
    Outlook 2010 crashes at startup

    Hi JMH

    Many thanks for replying. Bit confused about this as I looked in event viewer and coudn't see anything. So I closed mozilla and opened up Outlook in anticipation of the PC turning off - but for some reason it didn't.

    This has me wondering if it is an add-on problem or something in Mozilla. When it next crashes I'll let you know what event viewer says.

    Thanks for the help.

    Deebhoy,
    Trouble shooting is always a good idea.
    Test. Observe your theory

    Please let us know the results either way.

    PC crashed again just as Outlook was loading emails. Checked the event viewer and it said the source was Kernel-Power. Anybody any ideas why its outlook?

    I'm reading on microsofts website about it - Windows Kernel event ID 41 error in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2: “The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first”

    Do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook?
    Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you'd still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus scanner.

    Cheers JMH. Disabled the anti-virus I'm using and got a bit further but just as it was downloading the messages the PC crashed. If I need to disable an add-on the problem is practically getting into Outlook to do it.

    Disabled all the add-ins and the PC didn't crash!! Do I continue to not use the add-ins though?
