Office Home and Student 2010 conflict with Windows 7

I have 32 bit Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 software installed on a 64 bit Asus running Windows 7. My wife is having conflicts in both Word and Excel. While typing Word will randomly select all text and not let her go any further without doing an undo. She then has to hit save and restart the software. What do I need to do to get this glitch or conflict resolved? Anyone else experience this and know how to fix this? I am sure it is a compatibility issue but not sure what settings to choose and wonder if reinstalling the software might work since updates could be the problem. It worked fine from August until about two months ago. Thanks!

It is unlikely to be a conflict between Windows 7 and Office 2010 - they are completely compatible.

Do you have a good anti-virus installed, with up to date definitions?

As a belt and braces measure, you could download Malwarebytes (free) and perform a full scan:
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Downloads

If all is clear, then you could try a repair on your MS Office:

Please post back with any results. :)

Not experienced the problem here..& unsure how to fix it.
    But here goes....

So the problems started approx March but all was well prior to that.

Have you checked in Event Viewer?

*Type event viewer, in search and look for errors that may show the cause of the problem.
Critical errors have red in the left column.
If /when you find them look for anything that relates to your problem.

*What happens when you open the application in safe?
Click start->run->type excel /safe and check the result.
    {Note the gap between excel & /safe}
    Do the same with Word.

If the application works fine in safe then check if you have any Addons that are conflicting with the application and disable them.

Click->file->options->Addons->Manage->under the drop down check for the Addons.
Disable one at a time to see how it goes.
