Outlook is loaded and appears to bring in mail. However, error 0x80041002 "We cannot currently access your account. Please try again"

Perhaps you could try performing a repair on Office:

Go to Start | Control Panel | Programs and Features.
Find and Select Office | click "Change".
At the last step click on "Repair" followed by the "Continue" button.

I performed the office repair and still get the same error.

Outlook loads o.k. and brings in the mail.

However, the error 0x80041002 "we cannot currently access your account. Please try again.' occurs.

What is going on? How to fix?

A few things to check ....

Check with your ISP / Mail provider as to the exact settings required, confirm that these are correct in the account settings screens - Check if you are given more than one port address try changing to the alternate (there is normally the option to connect encrypted or in the clear do not change ports if this would compromise security, only change if the security level is maintained)

in the advanced settings, increase the timeout setting

    One Easy Check

This was solved the other day by turning off Virus software temporarily just to see if it is interfering with your mail. What Virus prog are you running. Would it be Avast? Try sending and recieving with the Virus software off. Then if it is the virus software turn it back on till you find a solution. This will only take a minute or two and if it doesn't work you have eliminated a possible cause.
