Outlook 2010 - 2 inboxes only 1 email acount
This is similar to other threads about 2 inboxes in Outlook but the solutions there have not worked for me. I am having difficulty with Outlook 2010 under Windows 7 (Ultimate).
Outlook 2010 was working fine in Win Xp but not since I i installed Win 7 Ultimate.
I rebuilt my Pc from scratch with Windows 7 Ultimate having backed all the data, outlook data files and Favorites.
When I installed Office 2010 and ran Outlook for the first time it took me thorugh the process of setting up my single email account. The worked fine and a test email arrived as expected. Then I tried to import my backup up Outlook.pst file and got the message that I did not have access tot his file????.
SO i quit Outlook and copied the Outlook.pst file to the location replacing the outlook.pst file that was there.
I ran outlook again and the old Personal Folder appeaed complete with all my old files calendar etc etc. However there were two inboxes called my@email.address. All new received and sent email arrived here whereas my old files were in the Personal folder.
Ok after exploring changing the email details, and exploring changing the data files only to find the personal data file was the default and there was no way I could change it.
SO I copied all my folders from the Personal Folder to the new folder whose title was my email address. This was time consuming and slow but I eventually got all the files across on this new "personal" folder.
I though well this was OK but then received a warning message from my ISP say my email folder had exceeded its quota. ????.
SO I quit excel and went in web email and what I found was startling. When I coped all the files across the new personl folder title "my email address" the entire sub folder and all the emails were created on the server - OPTUSNET.COM.AU .
No wonder I had exceed the quota on the server. OK so I will transfer the files back to the original personal folder. No deal outlook would not let me as it was presumably syncing with the ISP's server.
So I unstalled Office 2010 and reinstalled it hoping for a fresh start. When I ran Outlook it found my prevoius outlook.pst file and imported it and I had to add my email again. Same problem same issue. I tired again this time renaming the outlook.pst file but to no avail Outlook would not open because it could not find the old PST file. DAMN
If I could delete the reference to old pst files when I unistall Offcie 2010 and reinstall it I think that would resolve the issue.
I am now using webmail until this issue is resolved.
