Have Word 2010 - Want Word 2007 I have a new desktop computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit that came with Office 2010.
I have a 3-User package of Office 2007 that I purchased to put on a laptop, but never installed it. I am not a heavy user of Office.
Can I install Word 2007 "over" 2010 to avoid the learning curve?
Thanks, cb | My System Specs |

Hi Abredt,
2007 and 2010 are very similar, especially in look-and-feel. I don't think you will notice any difference between the two, so recommend you stick with 2010.

Thanks, cb Not much difference between the two versions.
If you want more of an Office 2003 feel, and as you posted you're not a heavy Office user, consider installing the latest version of Libre Office along side of your Office 2010.

You would need to uninstall 2010, but I wouldn't bother as it's far better than 2007.
A couple of hours to get to grips with it and you'll be fine.
Anyway, you could always make a bit of money by selling your 2007 version. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |

If your Office 2010 is a 3 month trial, it is worth considering to use the paid 2007 license. But you have to uninstall the 2010 version first. There were some problems uninstalling 2010 in the past. You may want to have a look at this thread in case you run into problems. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Thanks to all. I guess I'll keep 2010. It's not a trial version.

Can I install Word 2007 "over" 2010 to avoid the learning curve?
Thanks, cb You " pre-installed " Office 2010 is a " trial " version. Only good for x numbers of days. ( Used to be 60 days).
I just recently bought a new computer with Win 7 Home Premium. It also came with a trial 2010 Office. I have a retail Home and Student 2007 . So, I uninstalled the trial version and then install my paid version.
Here is a link to uninstall your 2010 Office trial version.
The tutorial includes 2003, 2007 and 2010 versions. Make sure you choose the 2010 " FixIt " button for uninstall. cb Pardon me for contradicting you.
Microsoft Office never give away for free.
You said it came with the computer. It is a trial version.
To prove ....
Open one of the Office programs > look up at the top of the program window > do you see the word " Trial " ?
