    Office Installation problem - Office won't run


    Installed Office professional 2010 on a new dell, installation went smooth. After the install I dragged the office icon from the start menu to create a shortcut. The shortcut that was created was not the one that had appeared on the start menu It was greyed out, etc. Clicked on it, and it said not valid. tried dragging the shortcut back to start menu, but now the grey icon replaced the original MS office icon, and it still would not run. reinstalled it, still didn't work. besides the advice you guys will give me, is there a free ms support number for this type of problem?

    Hi,

    First things first, lets see if Office installed correctly:

    1. Click Start Orb.
    2. In the search box, type winword and hit enter.

    Does Word open up?

    Repeat the above, but this time type excel, and hit enter.

    Does Excel open up?

    programs work from command line, but


    however i can't find the program to make the shortcut..

    c:\programs\microsoftsoft\office\office14

    doesnt show any of the exe files for office....
