    MS word 2010 not working

    hi,

just if anyone could enlighten me...

i downloaded a trial version of office 2010 but it doesn't seem to work.

word often seems to crash. much of this seems to be when i try to import word documents sent as attachments to emails or from skydrive.

as there perhaps some software i am missing..?

    Hi,

    Try this :

    1. Click on Start Orb
    2. In the Search box, type winword and hit enter.

    Does Word open up?

    hi golden,

thanks for the reply but not much happened i'm afraid.

i typed in winword and word didn't open up. i just got a screen shoing files.

i didn't say but i'm in china where i bought this laptop two weeks ago, so a lot of the control panel is in chinese language.

at some point i may have to hand it to a chinese speaker to help me vchange it into english then start on programs.

    Hi,

Can you take a screen capture of the files that you refer to, and post it here?

    Thanks,
    Golden

Mmm....well my Chinese is not that good, non-existent actually, so I'm afraid I can't tell much from that.

All I can suggest is to uninstall the Office trial, reboot, and try again. Presumably this version of Windows 7 is a legitimate version? Is it a full retail, or OEM version?

i believe it to be legit windows 7. in the laptop when purchased.

i'm going to meet a friend who can operate the computer in chinese and hopefully we'll start over.

    thanks for your input.

it says it cannot find document that matches your search.

Under it, it asks you to search from the following :

Windows explorer, Computer , Self-created folders, Internet Explorer.

Not unless you have a Chinese speaking person by your side 24/7.

If you have Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise, you can install the Language Pack and change Chinese language display to English.

    Please read this :
    Windows 7 language packs
Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise
