Can't UNinstall MicroSoft Office Home and Student 2007 - Error 1402 I asked the above question here: Can't UNinstall MicroSoft Office Home and Student 2007 - Error - Microsoft Answers
And i was sent this email:
Click Start, click Run, type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER, and then click OK. Even if you do this correctly, it may look like nothing occurs.
Click Start, click Run, type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER, and then click OK. Even if you do this correctly, it may look like nothing occurs, or you may briefly see an hourglass. After you run this command, the operation is complete. Now try to run the fixit and then check.
Restart your computer in Clean boot mode and then check.
Note ensure to restart the computer in Normal mode once the troubleshooting is done
BUT I ran into difficulties in the CLEAN BOOT STEP:
( How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 ) With this QUESTION:
Thanks, almost:
I did everything you said, until I got to here: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 Step 2: Enable half of the services
Follow steps 1a and 1b to start the System Configuration utility.
Click the Services tab, and then click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box.
Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.
Click OK, and then click Restart.: "" c. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list. The "c." above doesn't make sense to me!!
Do you mean, just randomly, select any "half of the check boxes"?
Which check boxes??? Very confusing!
I got this far, but don't dare to proceed.
Could someone advise me how to proceed?
Thanks...vmars316 | My System Specs |

Prep Alway prep for the unexpected.
1. Do a full backup of the registry.
2. Create a restore point.
3, Create an image for restoring in case of crash.
Put all files where you know they are located and will be available for getting out of a bind.
If there is any of the above you aren't familiar with, ask questions. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number BGC (Bob's Garage Crew) OS win 7 X64 Ultimate SP1 CPU I3770K Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe Memory G Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBXL x 4 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX670 + Intel 4000 Sound Card Realtek HD 5.1 (MOB) Monitor(s) Displays Asus VW224T (1) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard MS Wireless 3000 V2 Mouse MS Wireless 3000 V2 PSU CoolerMaster 1000 Watt Case CoolerMaster HAF X Cooling CPU -- CoolerMaster 520N Hard Drives SATA Corsair Force GT 2.5" 180GB (System) Sata 3

Hello vmars316 and welcome to Seven Forums. Quote: The "c." above doesn't make sense to me!! Do you mean, just randomly, select any "half of the check boxes"? Which check boxes??? Very confusing! I got this far, but don't dare to proceed. Let's say you've got a total of 40 startup processes and you suspect one of them might be causing problems. By selecting half (the first 20) you'd reboot. If the problem appears you'd know that the offending startup item is within those first 20 services. If the problem is not apparent, you'd uncheck the first 20 and then check the remaining 20 processes. Once you know which half has the problem process you'd check the first 10, then (if necessary) the second 10. From this you'd narrow down the offending process to 1 of 10. Then do 5 and 5, then do 2 and 3 until you've narrowed it down as far as you can go. Your final step would be to check each of the remaining 2 (or 3) individual processes by checking first one and then the other and rebooting each time. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony Vaio VPCEB47GM Laptop OS Win 7 Pro 64-bit CPU Intel i5 2.4 Ghz Memory 8GB DDR3 Graphics Card Intel HD 3000 Sound Card IDT High Definition Monitor(s) Displays 15.6 WGXA Anti-Glare LED Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives 640Gb 7200rpm Antivirus MSE Browser Opera (primary) with IE9 backup |

Here is an uninstaller program: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems
After installing, run it and see if Office 2007 is listed in the window. If so select it to run the uninstaller with moderate options, this will give you the option after uninstall runs, to delete registry items. I suspect since it was bundles on your machine there is some registry entry which keeps resurrecting it. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Revo Uninstaller shows 16399 leftOver registry items. Delete All? Thanks,
This solution seems the most simple.
I ran Revo Uninstaller and it shows 16399 leftOver registry items.
Is it safe to just DELETE them all?
Thanks...vmars316 | My System Specs | | |

Thanks...vmars316 I'd make sure to backup the registry "just in case" something is deleted that shouldn't be deleted. Before doing that, just take a look through this Microsoft article - there is a 'Fix-it' included: You receive an error message when you install an Office program or open an Office program or document .
. Quote: Method 4
Some activation problems indicate that the license file is corrupted. If the license file is corrupted, you cannot resolve the problem by removing and then reinstalling the Office product. The license file is not removed when you remove the Office product. Additionally, the license file is not overwritten when you reinstall the Office product. If the license file is corrupted, use one of the following methods to delete the license file. Note Method 4 applies only to Office 2007, Office 2003 and Office XP. Office 2010 does not use the OPA licensing file. Fix it for me
To delete the corrupted license file automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Click Run in the File Download dialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard. Note This wizard may be in English only; however, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows. Note If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD, and then you can run it on the computer that has the problem. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Packard Bell OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz Motherboard Packard Bell IPISB-AG Memory 3.00 GB Graphics Card (1) Intel(R) HD Graphics (2) VNC Mirror Driver Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays AIO LCD Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Wireless Mouse Wireless Hard Drives WDC WD10EADX-22TDHB0 ATA Device

That sounds laike way too many entries, rerun it with "Safe" settings, and create restore before uninstalling. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Hmmm...
I also tried the "RipOutOffice2007: Completely Uninstall Microsoft Office 2007" ,
but 'ms Office Home & Sutdent 2007' is still there.
Within the RipOutOffice2007 process, it started up the 'msOffice...2007 Install'.
What a mess...
If i were to purchase the 'Revo Uninstaller PRO' will it do the Backup/Restore for me?
And remove OfficePrograms?
I'd rather do that & get it done properly, than farkle around anymore.
