    Spreadsheet


    Hello.Just installed Open Office,Now trying to use the spreadsheet system.
    I thought that I would make an address book up of family names etc,Now when it comes to entering their telephone ie:01683***** when its in the column the nought aint there can anyone explain to me why this is and is there a way to get the 0 to be there.
    Running windows 7.& now OO..

    I don't have Open Office, but in Office I would format the cell as 'General'.

    Sorry I can't be more specific for OO.

    Maybe I'll download it - just for reference.

    If you format the cells as text it should retain the leading zero.

    Hello flogit

    If you right click the column in question,then format cells and click text and then ok that will allow a zero first

    Change the way you enter the phone number by using decimal points.

    Select your cells (or column) and right click, then click Format Cells.

    Under Options, select "1" for Leading Zeroes.

    Now enter your numbers as:

    0.xxx.xxxx
