Can't find microsoft's office 2010 New here, new to Win 7 Having been on XP all these years, I am at a loss with this new OS. I managed to get it to look like XP with the classic look...but that is where it ends. This netbook came with Office 2010 and yet i cannot find it. I do not even see it. I am looking for a search box and could not find one, so i can enter the name there. I'm sure someone here would know. The only knowledge that i have of knowing it must exist, i see it in a list of uninstall programs that i have, as i was uninstalling all games from this netbook. | My System Specs |

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.
You should see it listed under Start>All Programs.
You might also want to check Start>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program to see whether you inadvertently deleted Microsoft Office.
As a matter of interest, was it the starter version or the trial version that was installed? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |

Look Here You can check in explorer for a path similiar to this "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office" to confirm if its in the start menu.
Even better click start and slect run and type in "excel.exe" or "winword.exe".
If it's there it will run hopefully.

That kills me when people do this...to keep clinging to a decade old OS as opposed to a newer, updated, more efficient UI. I rolled out Windows 7 to 30 non-tech savvy employees in my company, and not one person has had trouble adjusting to the new OS. If they can handle it quickly, I'm sure you can.
Anyway, it should be in your Start menu under All Programs. If you want to check as well, look through your list of programs to uninstall. It might not have been installed, or you may have accidently removed it. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 Memory 12 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3-1333 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA PSU OCZ ModStream 700W Case CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 240 GB, WD5001AALS, WD7501AALS |

Thanks, I finally found it. It is a starter version. I did not purchase this netbook for Win 7...i bought it for traveling purposes cause of its size. I may get to like it once i get accustomed to it and then i may not...to each his own. It would be a welcomed sight if one who likes to reply to a post, to stick to what the person is asking for help, and not get 'prissy' over ones likes and dislikes. No one is forcing anyone to reply...though i thought this is what these forums are for..cordiality. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ454 11.6-Inch HD Netbook OS Win 7 ultimate x64 Memory 2 gb Hard Drives 250 gb |

I wasn't being rude. I was stating a point from experience...that if you don't like it right away, that's normal (to some extent) but to give up on it and try to bend it to look like an old OS is only counter-productive. That's like buying a Blu-Ray player and being mad it doesn't have dials and sliders on it.
You just said that no one is forced to reply...and you are correct, so be happy that anyone takes the time to post and try and help. You are new here, so we can overlook the fact you don't understand what all used to go on here with new posters creating threads to rip apart Windows 7 and complain about it....only because they weren't used to it. We all grew very tiresome of it, so it is mind-blowing to those of us who are using Windows 7 and trying to help support it...to see someone takes deliberate steps to make their transitions more difficult.
On top of all that, depending on what video board you have in the netbook, you may actually be hurting your performance by switching to a classic theme. People new to Windows 7 usually find this to be outrageous and argue about it, but if the video card supports Aero, it will run better with Aero enabled. If it doesn't support Aero, it won't run any better or worse with classic or basic selected.
In the future, especially while you're new here....don't just assume people are being pissy or prissy. For most of us...if something is typed in as a response, there's good reason behind it. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P-B3 Memory 12 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3-1333 Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 470 Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp 2209WA PSU OCZ ModStream 700W Case CoolerMaster HAF 912 Advanced Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Agility3 240 GB, WD5001AALS, WD7501AALS |

I'm sorry you feel sleighted by DeaconFrost's reply, but I can assure you he wasn't trying to be "prissy" as you put it.
Each and every one of us who tries to resolve problems is an unpaid volunteer who give of their time willingly and generously and all he was doing was making what I thought was a relevant and valid point.
I'll agree it's nice when we are cordial to each other, but remember, it works both ways.
Your comment, both in context and manner was guaranteed to generate a response, which it did, but perhaps not exactly as you wanted it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |

this is an interesting second post .
as a newcomer here it would be prudent to remember that people who have been members here a number of years and collated a collection of badges and medals ,have done so by being helpful and polite.
i rarely see a new member telling others how to post on their second post .
Bare in mind for someone who needs help to find a program that is installed then they may need a lot more help in future.
seven forums is the best forum for windows seven advice and whether welcome advice or not you could learn a lot from it.

In case you didn't know -- Office 2010 Starter is the FREE version of MS Office that OEMs bundle with PCs. It contains ONLY Excel and Word. The good news (if any) is that at least the license doesn't expire like the old 60-day "trial" versions they used to include.
However, if you want other Office 2010 components, you have to upgrade this to a different version. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Win7 Pro 32-bit, Win7 Home 32-bit CPU AMD 4400/Intel 915 Motherboard ASUS/Intel Memory 2GB DDR 400 Graphics Card ATI X1600/Builtin Intel 915 Sound Card Bluegear B-Enspirer/Builtin sound Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 24" widescreen Screen Resolution 1920x1200/1024 x 768 Can't find microsoft's office 2010 problems?
