    Microsoft Office Word

I'm using Windows 7 and the "Home and Student" package, that comes with Microsoft Office Word. In this version there is automatic double spacing. Apparently there is an option that allows the user to accept an earlier version of Word where there is normal spacing. Can anyone tell me how to get to that option?
    Thanks,

Open the document that you want single spaced (like a Word 2003 document). Open the Ribbon, go to Home, Styles, click Change Styles. Go to Style Set, and click Word 2003. To make this your default style for all subsequent documents, click Set as Default.

And/or, go into your Normal template, select Modify, at the bottom-left of the window click on Format, then Paragraph, then go to the Spacing section and make sure the settings are 0 for 'Before the line' and 'After the line.'

Plus, if you don't want an extra space between paragraphs, this is where you would check that box as well.

Check OK. When done, if you want this setting to be your default, at the bottom of the screen check: 'New documents based on this style.'
