The page numbers on the right don't line up vertically. I'm trying to do that but they resist that's as close as I can get I need to get closer and I don't know how.
Please read this tutorial for
How to create a Table of Contents in Microsoft Word
This looks like it would achieve the result you are seeking:
On the References tab > Insert Index > check the box which says "Right align page numbers". (see below)

If he's doing it manually rather than using the TOC wizard, perhaps a monospaced font would be in order?
Hello everyone,
I went through the styles/TOC as suggested here it wouldn't take - so I cut the original manual TOC and the Formatted TOC popped right in looking aligned.
The new problem is this : On my ribbon heading 1 showed faded fonts but the other end showed it being bold. I just had a print out and the heading is indeed faded. A look I don't like.
What do I do to change these faded heading? Will changing the headings affect the the update feature on TOC? I'm getting closer to solving this.
I've learned alot here, the paperclip and capturing screenshots were very interesting.
There is an excellent video tutorial here:
Customize the TOC by changing styles - Create and customize a table of contents - Office.com
Nice video I'll watch it again to let it soak in. Thanks! That opens up many options...
I noticed that and plan on diving in, my monthly allotment of bandwidth is getting thin so I'll have to taper off or go down to the library and tap into their wifi. In any event I've got it bookmarked and will be back. You've been very helpful to me and once again thanks!
