    Outlook 2003 will not open

I installed Office 2003 & all worked. Then I transfer-ed data & settings from my old XP computer using the Windows 7 start-up transfer program and now Outlook will not open. The message I get is:
"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persist."

I tried re-installing Office 2003 & ran fix Office 2003 without any results. All other programs in Office work.

    How do I correct this?

    Welcome Olhupp...

    Note
Outlook 2003 {and Outlook 2007} have known compatibility issues with Windows 7 which can be fixed by installing their latest Service Packs

Outlook is looking for your .pst (data) file in the wrong place because it's different than Windows XP. It is located in C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook so you'll have to tell Outlook to look for it there.

Ok I have tried all the suggestions. I ran Scanpst.exe (no help), unchecked outlook properties compatibility mode, I uninstalled Office & re-installed office again and I still get the same message when trying to open outlook.

I found the Outlook.pst file located under local instead of roaming, copied it to roaming and outlook still has the same message. Under roaming the Outlook file was .NK2 before I added outlook.pst

    Any other suggestion?

I found the solution. By going into the Control Panel, then Mail, and resetting the personal data file (.pst) security access to "All".

    Thanks for your time.
