Outlook 2010 setting default save format

I found "Outlook 2010 setting default save location" and that worked very well!

I am looking for "Outlook 2010 setting default save format" so that when I save a mail, it does not default to .msg but rather to HTML.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

This interesting article goes some way to explaining the difficulties of working with emails in HTML format.

Thanks, I will look at those links.

The reason I want to save mails to HTML is that a lot of the jokes that circulate have the jpg's embedded into the mail and I found that by saving the complete mail as an html, a folder with the same name as the mail subject but with "-files" is created and then to look through all the jpegs with, typically, Picasa, it is easy to locate a joke/funny pic/motivational in my joke mail "archive"

Would be nice if Picasa can "Shape" recognise but that will happen in due course.

    Something in here maybe:
    Save a message - Outlook - Office.com
    .
    .

Change the default file format for saving messages

Outlook 2010 supports Unicode, a character encoding standard that enables most of the written languages in the world to be represented by using a single character set. If you work in a multinational organization or share messages and items with people who use Outlook on computers that run in other languages, you can take advantage of Unicode support in Outlook.
If you want to save your messages in a Unicode encoding by default, do the following:

    1. Click the File tab.
    2. Click Options.
    3. Click Mail.
    4. Under Save messages, select the Use Unicode Format check box.

    Nope!

Use Unicode was selected and the default is still .msg.

TRicia of officeusers.org sent the following but that means VB again!

    Hi Erich,

You can use VBA, but that’s pretty much your only option. Here is some info (although they refer to Outlook 2007, the premise is the same):

I hope that helps. Have a great weekend J
