Microsoft Word 2007 I installed the trial of MS Office 2007 and Excel works but I can't get Word to work. I click on an old XP word document and say "open with" and do a browse and go to winword.exe in Office12 which is under the program files of (x86) and it does not make the connection but I can open up a New Word document in 2007 then go to open and then I can open up any old word document. I just can't make all my XP documents hook into Word 2007. Any suggestion what I might try? | My System Specs |

try this Try not browsing to the winword.exe, you are offered different programs in the "open with" dialog page. Just scroll down and choose "word". if it works then open again and choose "Always open with word option". | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Systemax N2000 Gaming PC OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Q6600 @2.4ghz (G0 stepping) Motherboard XFX nforce 680i LT Memory 8 gb OCZ vista essential sli PC-6400 Graphics Card Dual 9800gt in SLI mode Sound Card Integrated 8.1 High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dual Sceptre x246w 24 inch monitors Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 each monitor Keyboard MS Intelitype 6000 v2.0 Mouse MS Intelipoint 6000 PSU Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1250W Case N2000 server tower Cooling Thermaltake Bigwater 760 is Hard Drives 500 GB SATA II / 7500 rpm Internet Speed Wi-power 1.5GB up / 512k down Other Info Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Windows 7 Pro x64, Windows Home Premium X86, Windows XP pro, Windows Home Server x86, Ubuntu 10.4 x86 and x64, Ubuntu server 10.4, SQL Server 2005, MySQL 5.0 |

There was (I'm sure there still is) a download on MS site, that allows you to open older versions. I know Office 14 has it built in... | My System Specs | | |

Maybe I didn't get your post right, but have you tried doubleclicking on it?
If yes, and it didn't work go to controlpanel => programs, find office and do a repair install. | My System Specs | | OS Win7 Build 7600 x86 CPU Pentium II 300MHz Motherboard Asus Memory 32mb EDO RAM Graphics Card Diamond Viper Sound Card Soundblaster 16 Monitor(s) Displays 14" AOC CRT 16K color Screen Resolution 800x600 Keyboard Trust Ergonomic Mouse Generic PSU 110 Watts Cooling Passive Hard Drives 300mb Quantum fireball Internet Speed 256K u 128K d |

Still don't work. I uninstalled Office all together downloaded Home and student 2007 office trial and installed it and it works just fine except word doesn't work. I did a convert, repair, you name it I did it I think. I believe this is a easy fix I just don't know what it is. When I try and "open With" Word is not there so I go to browse and I have to enter the (x86 program files) and when I go to winword and double click or open it don't work. I can open a new word with no problem and can even open any old word doc but there is no connection (forgot the term) to my old word docs. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 x64 RC1, Vista Ultimate, XP Pro CPU AMD 955 Memory 4 gigs - 1333 Graphics Card 5750 Monitor(s) Displays i-inc 28" Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Hard Drives 2 SATA2 750 GB - 1 SATA2 1TB - 1 SATA3 1TB - 1 USB3 2TB - 1 USB3 500 GB, SSD 60 GB Internet Speed 7 Megs |

Word doesn't work I uninstalled Office all together downloaded Home and student 2007 office trial and installed it and it works just fine except word doesn't work. I did a convert, repair, you name it I did it I think. re-boot many times. I believe this is a easy fix I just don't know what it is. If I go to an old XP Excel there is a picture icon and it opens just fine but when I go to an old XP document the icon is empty. When I try and "open With" Word is not there so I go to browse and I have to enter the (x86 program files) and when I go to winword.exe and double click or open it don't work. I can open a new word document and save it with no problem and can even open any old word doc though the open under file but there is no connection (forgot the term) to my old word docs. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 x64 RC1, Vista Ultimate, XP Pro CPU AMD 955 Memory 4 gigs - 1333 Graphics Card 5750 Monitor(s) Displays i-inc 28" Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Hard Drives 2 SATA2 750 GB - 1 SATA2 1TB - 1 SATA3 1TB - 1 USB3 2TB - 1 USB3 500 GB, SSD 60 GB Internet Speed 7 Megs |

I can manualy fix this problem if I want to convert each of my 300 documents one at a time by "Open" then select the document which will open up in Word 2007 and save as the default word. It saves my document as .doc and .docx so I save in both formates which is nice. But I don't want to do all 300 of them one at a time or else I have too. At least there is a fix to this problem. However I would rather drive my car to the next town instead of walking. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 x64 RC1, Vista Ultimate, XP Pro CPU AMD 955 Memory 4 gigs - 1333 Graphics Card 5750 Monitor(s) Displays i-inc 28" Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Hard Drives 2 SATA2 750 GB - 1 SATA2 1TB - 1 SATA3 1TB - 1 USB3 2TB - 1 USB3 500 GB, SSD 60 GB Internet Speed 7 Megs |

Go to Chose default program...
Word should be there...
If it isn't...
Browse for it...
Try in Program files (no program files (x86)
That worked for me...
I don't know any other solution
Do this it should work: Attachment 21896
PS - Idon't have Office installed
