Windows 7 - MS Office 2003?

MS Office 2003?

My 8 year old Dell, with XP, finally crashed. Got everything backed up, but I cannot reinstall MS Office 2010, as it was a one time gift that GE, who my wife works for, gave all their employees to install on their home PC. No way I can afford the price, even discounted, of 2010, or 2007.

I understand Windows 7 will support back to MS 2003. I guess EBay is the best place to try and get a 2003 disc for the cheapest price???

Thanks in advance,

Jack

Do you have anyone in the family who is still in full-time education at a recognised educational establishment?

Here in the UK my grandson uses Software4Students and gets software at huge reductions.

Be very careful with eBay and Amazon - if the deal is too good to be true, it usually is.

What can happen is that software is sold with an MSDN product key that has or is about to expire so that you have activation and validation problems.

Eventhough I have upgraded to windows 7 x64, I am still using the MS Office 2003, as the interface for MSOffice 2007 and 2010 is strange for me and I did not get the hang of it. Microsoft has a 2007 compatibility pack for 2003 which allows the 2003 version of word, excel, powepoint etc. to open and save the new XML based file formats for 2007.

Unfortunately, my son goes to a state university in Florida, and it is not recognized!

I don't know about the software4students website but if you go to the actual MS student website, you can buy MS Office 2010 for $99.95. Microsoft Store Online - Office Professional Academic 2010
If the school isn't recognized, there is a way to submit a copy of the student's class listing in order to prove you are a student. I have 4 kids attending college and none of the schools they are attending were recognized so we had to go the other route but it worked fine.

Office `03 is fine and all, still use it at work.

What bugs me is the so called 'Small Business' Office bundles, without Access. Just the full boat has it. There's just something wrong with that.
