Removing microsoft office 2010 starter

Hi,Just bought my wife a new windows 7 laptop last week she had an xp before. Its a nice little machine. On it has microsoft office 2010 starter pack and every time she opens office it has that right hand pane which we cant seemed to get shot of.She had open office on the old xp and she found it working well.
Now the question in hand,Would it be feasible to uninstall the microsoft office 2010,Then we can re install open office?.
Would it be a major job to achieve this task.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Trendy,

Microsoft Office Starter 2010 should be listed in Programs and Features in the Control Panel where you can click on it to uninstall it.

Programs and Features - Uninstall or Change a Program

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Sure, that is simple. I would recommend the Revo uninstaller Once it is launched, select the 'Advanced Option". That will give you a chance to delete all the registry entries and files that the office uninstaller left behind.

My MS Office 2007 is installed in the x86 library. I hope that is the same on your system for Office 2010.

Reason I mention that is that free Revo can only uninstall from the x86 library. To uninstall from the x64 library, they want you to buy their Pro version. Nothing is ever simple.

Should your Office be in the x64 library, you have to use what Brink posted. But check that first by opening your C: partition. The x64 library is just called 'Program Files' versus 'Program Files x86' for the one that works. Look for 'Microsoft Office".

I just replaced the treasurers laptop and it had `10 starter.
While I wouldn't consider that, part of the HP infamous bloatware package it was easily removed as Brink indicated.

Office, without Access, might as well just be Word.
