Try Windows Installer CleanUp Utility Download - Softpedia to remove it.

Check through this Microsoft Article - you could try the 'easy' option with the MS Fix-it' button under the Resolution section:
You receive an error message when you install an Office program or open an Office program or document
.
.

Quote:
When you install a Microsoft Office program, you may receive one of the following error messages during or at the end of the installation process:Error 1401: Setup cannot create Registry Key

Error 1402: Setup cannot open Registry Key

Error 1406: Setup cannot write the value to the registry key

The error message that you receive lists the registry subkey that is causing the error to occur.

After the installation, you may receive the following error message when you try to start your Office program:Microsoft program has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application.

Note that program is the name of the Office program that you are trying to start.

W.S.,
Ran CCleaner again, deleted MicrosoftShared, and ran as Admin.

Do not know what UAC is.

Infinite,
Ran the clean up.

Irene,
That 'MS-FixIt' does not pertain to OFF. 2010

UAC is User Account Control, it displays a warning when sysytem files are modified or deleted.

User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

I'm just wondering if your Office DVD has a problem i.e. cracked or dirty. If so, you can get it replaced.

How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs, and replace product manuals

You might also want to copy the Office files to a new folder on your hard drive, and then try installing it from there.

Also, it will probably pay you to right-click the installer first and choose Run as Administrator.

I have ruled out the DVD disk as the cause.

I went back to the original download link and tried to install it from there.

Same Results!

And Yes I did try running it as Admin.

Have you copied the DVD to your hard drive as I suggested and tried installing from there?

It is me, myself.
However, I must admit that it was me at the age of approximately 29 years of age ...

... I am now 65, pushing 66 (in March)

But...
I can still close my eyes and feel exactly the same!
I still desire clothes and shoes (very short skirts and extremely high heels), which would look hideous on me in my present 'condition'!!
