MS Word 2010 to PDF failing

I seem to be doing all the right things to save a file as PDF but it finally fails with an error message. Not sure why, I am using Foxit Reader and after installing doPDF this did the job nicely but still left wondering why MS Word fails. I think I am up to date but possibly not. Any thoughts?

What has foxit reader to do with the problem??? It's WORD that creates the pdf. You did save as pdf isn't it?
Do you have the problem with all the word-documents you tried?

    What error message?

Yes of course I tried to save as PDF following procedure. I know the PDF reader has nothing to do with what MS Word does. This is the error message -

'The export failed due to an unexpected error'

    Any solution?

ps No I don't have any other problems with MS Word just with saving as PDF files.

    check file %windir%\syswow64\t2embed.dll and "%windir%\system32\t2embed.dll
rightclick and click properties. Now click on "security" tab.
What privileges has SYSTEM, ADMINISTATORS, USERS? (sholuld be READEXECUTE and READ)
What privilges has TRUSTEDINSTALLER? (should be FULL CONTROL)
    No deny access?
    More accounts listed?

The .dll file has those permissions and if it makes any difference I run as administrator. The document is about 40 pages and is a docx which I created. I altered the Trusted Locations to include this file since I thought it might be that but still the same unless this depends upon a reboot. I don't use Excel or Powerpoint so will leave those until later if possible. I notice from searching that there have been problems with saving to PDF via MS Word. I have tried both options - Save As and then choosing the .pdf extension and also the Save and Send and then Create a PDF with the same result. I included the Foxit note in case MS Word depended on Adobe Acrobat Reader functions in any way - I uninstalled that some time ago. As I commented the resulting PDF from using doPDF looks fine.

    Thanks for your help.

How about repairing the Office installation from Programs and Features.? Who knows it solved the matter.
As I can see this far, Office 2010 has never failed on me regardless the size of the files I work with.

    I think I might have located the problem - Fixit 50792 - which I did apply -

MS11-087: Vulnerability in Windows kernel-mode drivers could allow remote code execution: December 13, 2011

This seems to cause problems with Word and PDF files - will let you know if successful.

    :) :)

ps This was the cause and saving is working now - not sure why file is 505 kb as opposed to 253 kb for the one created by doPDF though!

    Thanks for help chaps.
