Microsoft Office 2007 looks like it is in safe mode

I ran an old Windows 95 program in compatibility mode. My Microsoft Office Word 2007 was open and now the ribbon at the top looks like it is in safe mode. Also, some places in device manager and control panel look bold and fuzzy. I have restarted my computer, gone to the window button and to options and tried to change the ribbon color. How can I fix this? Thanks, J

Have you tried to apply several themes in a row like Windows 7 basic theme and Windows 7 Aero theme (in Control Panel - Personalization). Sometimes switching through themes helps.
