Formatting words in bold give words in bold and italics

    Hi,

I don't know if anyone here had the same problem as me, but on a particular word document, whenever I choose a sentence to make it bold, it becomes automatically bold+italics. However, the italics sign is not clicked and therefore I cannot remove the Italics.

Any help on how I can solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

    Regards.

Which version of Office? What Font is used for the text? What is the point size of the text?

    Can you show an example?

I couldn't duplicate it in Office 2010 but I suspect it may be caused by the "Style Set" selected. I'll see if someone has 2013 and can help.

Hi robz. I am using Office 2013, although I don't use Word that much these days, I have had a look at the setting that you have described.

On the screen shot you have supplied, click on the Format button at the bottom left hand edge of that window & select Font from the little drop down menu & then look under Font Style you may have Bold Italics set, so change that to whatever you want.

Thanks for the help. I tried to do this and there was no bold in the font style. I guessed that there is a problem with the Times New Roman font, I deleted the font and downloaded it again. Now it is working. Thanks anyway for the help!

Glad you found the problem and that it's working for you. The Font had crossed my mind but let it slide since it was standard. And thank you for reporting back on the solution as it may help thousands of others with the same problem. +1 on your "Rep" for that.
