SBS 2011 and BCM 2010, cannot connect to Database

Hi,

I have an installation of BCM on Win 7, i'm trying to connect to database that is located on SBS 2011 x64, I use the BCM Database tool, chose SBSMONITORING as Database Server Instance, then MSSmallBusiness, then shared with users but for some reason I always get no shared database on selected server, port 5356 is opened on both client and server (InBound / OutBound).

I'm out of idead, PLS HELP!

Change DB instance

The only name that BCM is developed for is MSSMLBIZ as the DB instance, otherwhise you ar correct using 5356. Also make sure that local firewalls allow 5356 and that all PCs have TCP/IP configured for SQL client. The users that need to access also has to be users with access to the DB-server.

Best regards,
Ove Bristrand

MSSMLBIZ is correct; you could also install BCM rather than use the DB tool if you want to eliminate what could be wrong and go directly to the source. You can install Office without activating it, install BCM, create a server and attempt to connect with a remote client. Could be the way you had installed or set it up.

Best of luck,
