Preparing to install then Please wait while Windows configure Office..

I reinstalled Office 2010 Pro Plus 2010. Now, if I attempt to launch the Word, I get "Preparing to install . . .", then "Please wait while Windows configures Office Pro Plus 2010". After it is done a message indicates rebooting is required. After rebooting, the same thing repeats. I did it in Safe mode as was suggested but to no avail. I did repair install but was no cure.
    Any suggestion is appreciated.

You installed Office 2010 along with Office 2010 pro? That wasn't a very good idea. You can only have a single office program of any specific type at one time installed on your computer. It is like installing firefox internet browser twice, but with more damage. Office integrates more completely into your computer and can cause more problems if not done right.

Your best bet is uninstalling all of it and attempting to install it again. Use Revo Uninstaller Free in advanced mode (it will be a pop up in Revo after you choose uninstall) and remove all traces (may need to delete extra files left over, which will be another popup). If you cannot uninstall it for any reason in Revo, try control panel uninstall programs (the normal method). If that doesn't work, download Ccleaner (you might do this in addition anyway) and run the registry scanner. Only delete registry items relating to Microsoft office. Any other registry items are fine to leave alone (this program has the potential to remove something you might not want removed if used incorrectly).

After that, Run this tool: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker multiple times if errors are found. Restart, and attempt a windows update (make sure everything is updated). Then try to install ONE (1) Office suite program. If it fails, run this: Repair Install and try again.

If you are unable to install MS office for whatever reason, contact Microsoft either to try to fix it or for permission to install office again (if the key you bought isn't being accepted a second time)

Since I did not get notice of your post, I have done a couple of things since then.
I brought back the OS state to a past point by using a restore point. But the problem message still happened. If I follow what the message says, CD Key is asked. This time I used a different CD Key, then after the OS reboots the Word launches fine and it goes through activation process. No more problem message happens since.
The difference I noticed is that previously it never asked me to activate the Office, but this time it asked.

I do not know for sure what was the cause of the problem. What I can do is to change the CD Key to the one previously used, and see if it does not work. I know the previous CD Key is a legitimate one.

BTW: I never mention Office 2010 in my post or implied that the previously installed Office was Office 2010.
I used ReboUninstaller in Advanced mode to uninstall Office 2010 Pro Plus.

I appologize. I read this bit as, "I reinstalled office 2010 pro and also 2010.
Glad it is working. I think restoring the computer to an earlier state was a very good idea on your part, and may have helped some too.

    cheers!
