Have office 2010 and want to install 2007 student on same computer I have the starter version of office 2010. I discovered that it does not have microsoft document imaging in the tools. I tried to download only that piece out of 2007 but it did not work, possibly because of the starter version limitations. I was thinking that maybe I could have both. I am not sure how to do that because I have read that if they are in the same directory they will conflict with each other. If anyone could give me some step by step instructions on how to do it, I would be really grateful. | My System Specs |

It's too bad you have Home. If you'ld have had Pro, or Ultimate, you could have taken advantage of virtual machines. You can find free VM players from VMware, or Oracle. Install the OS, like you would on any actual machine, and install your Office program there. It should have access to your printer, CD/DVD player/burner, etc... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number iBuyPower NZXT OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1.7600) CPU Intel Core i7 (860@2.8G) Motherboard Gigabyte P-55 Memory 4G DDR3 (2 x 2G) Graphics Card GeForce GTS250 Sound Card Line 6 UX-2 PortaStudio Monitor(s) Displays 23" acer Screen Resolution 1900 x 1080 Internet Speed 10M cable modem |

My best bet is that they will indeed conflict with each other, but I am not sure if someone figured out a work around (Edit* I guess they have, as in the post above). I know for sure that you cannot install a part of '07 and have it work for '10. They are seperate programs. If you have the full version of '07, I would recommend just using that. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Inspiron M5040 OS Windows 8 Pro with Media Center x64 CPU AMD E-450 APU 1.65 GHz Memory 4GB Graphics Card Built-in Radeon HD 6320 Graphics Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 Mouse Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 Cooling fan Hard Drives 500GB Internet Speed 2.86Mbps Download Speed, 2.85Mbps Upload Speed & 26ms Ping Antivirus Defender Browser IE10 |

The link below might help but the procedure usually requires that the oldest version be loaded first and there are restrictions. The easiest way would be to load the other (older) version in a virtual machine. This would eliminate most conflicts. I'm not sure how it's done but we have BOTH office 2007 AND 2010 installed on our work laptops(not on VM's either) so it IS possible -- but don't ask me how.
AFAIK it will also only work with 32 bit versions of Office anyway.
(There are still some minor compatibility issues between 2007 and 2010 -- we have a lot of stuff from Older versions of office such as 2003 and even 2000 which read / work fine in 2007 but still cause problems on 2010 which is why we still have both versions until these documents are fixed). | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built OS W7 X-64 RTM,SUSE 11.1, XP PRO SP3 as a VM, VMware ESXi CPU Q9400 QUAD Motherboard P5QL-CM Memory 8GB Graphics Card On Motherborad Sound Card Realtek HD audio Monitor(s) Displays Apple Cinema display Mouse Toshiba wireless laser Hard Drives 4 X 1TB SATA Internet Speed > 20MB up |
