Outlook 2010 to Lotus Notes 8.5: winmail.dat
Hi everyone,
I've recently run into a new problem at work and I just can't get around it, even after heavy searches.
We send out many and various emails to our stakeholders and we never have a problem. Our newest client has been having troubles, though, receiving anything from me via email.
All PDFs or Word .doc/x are rendered obsolete when I send any to him via email, as they always end up becoming neutered as winmail.dat file attachments.
My system at work: Lenovo ThinkCentre, e5800, Win7, MS Office 2010 and therefore, Outlook 2010. We run our systems via a remote server.
Client's system: WinXP, MS Office 2007, Lotus Notes 8.5. I am unsure if his system is running off a remote server setup.
Having read through articles on the subject today, all point out that recipient computers may not be equipped to receive Outlook Rich Text formatting. So I went to file, options and went to check if mine has as default Rich Text format. Mine, however, was already at HTML format. So I decided to change to Plain Text format and resent the files. The response came back in the negative, the files were still rendered obsolete as winmail.dat
Tonight after work, I searched a little bit more, and came across this article: E-mail properties for contact addresses in Outlook 2010 | MSOutlook.info
Will this work? Because it seems that when I went into the file > options menu, and changed the global setting to plain text format, nothing changed for my client.
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, again.
