Copy & Paste NEVER Works Correctly the 1st Time in PowerPoint

This is my problem:


1) I copy an image I want to put in a PowerPoint Presentation.



2) I paste the image into PowerPoint. No cigar. PowerPoint doesn't want to put my image into the specified box - it wants to put my image smack in the center of the PowerPoint - every time. I've tried all the different C&P options, I've tried clicking everywhere ... no cigar.



3) I then cut the image from the PowerPoint and repaste the image into the specified box. This time, however, PowerPoint puts the image where I want it (see below for where I want it). Second time's the charm?





Question: How can I get PowerPoint to put my image in the box where I want it - the first time around??!!??! I've been dealing with this problem for the last year and I do not know how many hours of productivity I have lost having to cut and then repaste everything!!

Why don't you use "Insert picture from file" (the left bottom icon). That works.

Pasting a picture does exactly that, it inserts into your document. If you want it in the box, you have to load the image from a file.

I've never lost productivity doing this. I just resize the image and move it where I want it. If I want to use a multimedia box, I insert it from a file, per the design of Powerpoint. If you think this needs to change, you should submit a report to MS about it.

I would, but that means I have to download the file. I don't want unnecessary files cluttering my desktop.

I want it in the box, and PPT only puts it in the box the second time around for whatever reason. I do think this is flawed - why put the picture in the box at all if I'm not going about the proper way of inserting images? How should I submit a report?

the reason that PPT puts it in the box the second time is because 'by default' (unless you tell it to 'link') PPT embeds images--so a cut/paste from an embedded image will always be to the same location.

IF you don't want to 'clutter' your desktop--download and insert image--then delete it from desktop--or setup a special download location e.g. 'images folder' then reassign your default download location to that folder.

I really doubt that MS will rewrite their PPT code because one person doesn't want desktop clutter

I have found an acceptable compromise. To copy and past correctly the first time, I click the insert image option and copy and paste the image URL in to the file name box. This works well, as it puts the images exactly where I want them and also spares my desktop of clutter.
