Word 2003 AutoCorrect default to wrong language

Recently I installed Office 2003 on a new Windows 7 computer. I make extensive use of the AutoCorrect feature, but even though my default language for Office is set to English (UK), when I click the AutoCorrect tab the title bar displays "AutoCorrect: English (Australia)". I can't find any way to change this behaviour.

My keyboard is set to English New Zealand because that's where I live (so I need the $ sign on Shift-4, not the £ sign), but I speak and write English English, not any colonial variety!

Any help to overcome this infuriating anomaly would be greatly appreciated.
