Equations not displaying properly in MS Office

As the title says, my equations doesn't display properly and it's really giving me a hard time. Symbols show up as random characters like a minus sign being a bicycle. This happens in PowerPoint and Excel also. I tried reinstalling office but the problem still persists. This is a powerpoint sent by my professor. However, i tried clicking the equation and it still transforms to gibberish. I tried the define option in equation editor the L.C. Greek U.C. Greek etc. used Bookshelf Symbol 7. Is that supposed to be right?
