utf-8 export from outlook 2010 for google contacts / lookout

i'm currently on outlook 2003. but it's perhaps time to go to 2010 - basically because 2003 keeps crashing when left unattended - every overnight; and because with an android phone i need to sync with google contacts, and international character sets do not survive in .vcf exports from the 2003.

so two questions to the community - please advice!

1 - can you export from 2010 to .vcf, import that to gContacts and not get question marks for your chinese, arabic, greek, whatnot characters?
2 - is lookout indexing functionality actually working on the 2010 outlook? i remember back in the day when MS had bought lookout and bundled it to 2007 i tried it out but went back to 2003 as it wasn't really working.
