I have uninstalled Power Point reader and have downloaded a new version. I have 7 .pps documents in my document folder and none of them can be displayed with Power Point. This time however, Power Point opens and then I get a window that says "sorry but power point cannot open this type of file". These are all files I have saved because they were interesting and I opened them originally when I received them. Any thoughts?

    Hi,

Do you know which version of PowerPoint is being used to create these .pps files? I recommend getting the person to:

    1. Save the files as MS PowerPoint97-2003 version pps formats
    2. Zipping the files before emailing them to you

    Regards,

As I mentioned, I have 7 .pps files that I have gotten over the years and they used to always work. I have no idea what version of power point was used to record any of these files. I only know that they used to work OK.

Some additional information. I tried opening my .pps files directly from Power Point. I get the message that Power Point cannot open this kind of file. I tried using my Open Office Presentation and it was able to open the files directly from the application. I also changed the association listing for .pps to Corel Presentations and when I click on the file, it opens up. Any more ideas?
