    I have Office 2010, can I uninstall Works 9?

Just found out from Add/remove programs that Works 9 takes up 1.03GB space and would like to get rid of it.

Will I ever need Works 9 if I have Office 2010? Will I be able to restore/download if for some reason I need it later?

If works 9 is in your programs/features option to be able to remove, You should be able to safely remove it.

If 1.03 Gig of space worries you then you might have to get a larger hard disk as disk prices are coming down all the time.

Thanks rich. My query is whether I'd ever need Works if I already have Office 2010. I'm just trying to get rid of software that I don't/won't use and free up space.

For backup, I have a 1TB external drive that is backed up on another 1TB drive.

I haven't looked at Works in a long time, but as I recall it had a word processor and a spreadsheet.

I think ALL versions of Office 2010 include superior versions of both of those things, namely Word and Excel.

To that extent, you do not need Works.

BUT...............Works MAY have some other useful components that are not found in Office. It's up to you to find out if that is true and if those other components are something you might use. Stuff like an email program or a photo viewer/editor or whatever. I haven't looked at Works in ages, so I can't say.

But Works is NOT required for Office to work as advertised.
