Error message after 'Send/Receive' in Outlook 2007

    Hi Guys,

I need some help please, when I click Send/Receive in Outlook 2007 it fails and I get an Error message - 0x80040600. I've tried running the Repair Tool in SCANPST.EXE but this doesn't help, it states that all errors have been fixed, but then I still get the error message. I'm not running Exchange.

    Any ideas please?

    Hi,

You can try creating a new Unicode .pst file, setting it as default, and then importing the data from your older .pst file. For information about how to create a new .pst file and setting it as the default, click on the URL mentioned: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291636

To import the original .pst file, it must be removed from the Outlook profile. When Outlook is running, right-click the name of the Outlook data file (.pst) that you want to remove from the “Outlook Baror “Navigation Pane, and then click “Closename”.If the “Close command is not available, you are probably trying to remove the default Outlook data file (.pst) that is used to save your new messages. The article that was referenced earlier provides the steps to change the .pst file that is used as the default delivery location.

After you remove the original .pst file from the profile, you can import the data into the new .pst file. In order to do so, Click on the URL mentioned: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287070

Kindly let me know for further clarifications.

Thanks for this Debbie, I'll let you know how it goes.

Also Outlook is showing Messages view, but won't change to Messages with AutoPreview - is this syptomatic of something else, would a reinstall of Outlook do any good?

    Hi basils,

Troubelshooting Steps mentioned in my earlier post could fix this issue, but still if the issue persists then you can try reinstalling Outlook.

You can even refer to the URL mentioned, which would help in resolving any queries related to Outlook:

Let me know if that works for you.

In such case only Inbox Repair Tool can fix this problem but I think your case is different and PST file got severely damaged too. I would suggest you to search in Google. Just type Outlook PST Recovery such as Let me google that for you. You will find the result and select Outlook PST Recovery tool from good brand and try the demo version first.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for the help and suggestions. In the end matters got so bad with corruption etc. that I decided to do a complete re-install of windows, and that's where I'm at.

    Thanks again.
