Office 2010 icons have gone missing! Out of ideas!

Win 7 x64. Office 2010. Icons missing on both desktop and start up menu, managed to restore my adobe ones but still unable to sort my office icons out.
I've tried other ideas off multiple forums but as yet I've been unsuccessful.

Can not repair/uninstall office. tried to rebuild icon cache.db , used replacement icon files that were posted on a forum and copied them over.

The problem was either linked to ccleaner (over reaching its bounds) or when I made changes to windows and registry folders (probably the latter).

Any walkthroughs or advice that anyone has would be greatly appreciated, i wouldn't mind so much if the 'missing icon' icon wasn't so damn ugly...

    Thanks in advance.

Try this tutorial.> Icon Cache - Rebuild

    This is a Sevenforums tutorial.
Use Option One Step 1-5. If Step 1-4 do not work then go to Step 5 as posted in the tutorial.

    Good luck.

yeah thats the rebuild i've tried.

I think I'm missing something from from my registry, the icons themselves or there's something wrong pathway to the icons.

    any additional thoughts?

after reading up on various forums and trying multiple fixes, as far as i can comprehend windows installer has been corrupted, explaining why I can not uninstall office and why the icon folder is missing.

As i'm not going to need to uninstall office anytime soon, i've used FilesTypeMan for a superficial quick fix and I'm moving on with my time, as its definitely becoming more trouble than i'm willing to invest.

Thanks for reading, and may it be no help to anyone..

    Office 2010 repair tutorial.> Office 2010 - Perform Repairs

This should fix Office registry problems.

I forgot about the repair tutorial earlier and I just got home from taking the wife out to eat and shopping.
