Interogating .pst files?

Does anyone know if there is any way of 'interrogation/viewing' the contents of saved or backed up .pst files, other than importing into Outlook?

Hi,

Try this application - it appears to be FREE, but I suspect its a 30 day trial:

PST Viewer - Free tool to open and view content of PST files without Ms Outlook

Another option is to import the .PST into the Thunderbird Mail Client:
Download Thunderbird PST Import plugin 1.2 for Linux - Thunderbird PST Import plugin was created to allow importing Outlook PST and select which email folder to import. - Softpedia

Brilliant suggestions Golden, I'm using both ways suggested as the PST viewer doesn't expose the contents of a distribution list in 'contacts, - but it does everything else! Thank you very much.
