    VERY annoying Word issue...!

Hope someone can help this 'ol fart with a problem of late. I'm trying to make labels for my woodworking projects and I've been trying to download some round label templates from different sites that supposedly work in Word.

Every damn time I try this I get...

"Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable"

???? WHAT THE HECK does this mean... I've tried a few Google searches, but most of the stuff sounds way outa my league. Maybe I'm just too old...!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Cheers,

    unclepine

Hello unclepine mate I used to make labels for my woodwork and I am just wondering why they need to be round?

I had a quick look and found this via a Google search
Free Avery® Template for Microsoft Word, Round Label 5294
    there is also this
Round Labels & Circular Labels On A4 Sheets For Laser & Inkjet Printers

I don't know how this would go with applying the wording on them but what I would try is WordArt in the Inset tab check the up rounded word and put in your text. How you resize it can let you make it as rounded or curved as you like.
I don't know because I have never used round labels but perhaps a copy and paste into the label sheet template?

Hey there South Saxon Man, thanks for the reply. I tried the link you sent and I get the same message as I always do...!!?? I use round labels as I also turn small keepsake "bottles" with lids from exotic wood blanks from Lee Valley.
Tha round labels work nice for me and I also want to label a myriad of small acrylic paint bottles so I can read the name and number from the top while working on a plastic model or 3.

The issue is not the type of label as much as it is the darn ERROR message I keep getting.

    Thanks for jumpin in mate,

    unc

Hiyya unc I have just downloaded that Avery temp mate and it opened up with what are looking to be large round labels and I managed to type into them - see pic is that what you need?

I just downloaded the Avery site saved it to downloads and open it from there.

Why I asked where you were is cos you called me South Saxon Man and I thought perhaps you were English (I am) or in the UK.

See what you think about this one. The searches certainly are a ruddy night mare though eh?

Hey unc I just found is you go to here http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Tem...und-Labels/?Ns=

look down the left hand side and you will find downloads for differing numbers of labels per sheet - I just downloaded the 20 per sheet and saved it in downloads again you can open it from there auto. I suspect it can be added to Word somehow but it is just as easy to open it from the saved download.

    Hello unclepine! :)

You could take a look through the following link. Maybe it will help, if you feel confident to proceed:
"Word could not create the work file" error message when you save a document in Word 2010 or in Office Word 2007

Hiyya Irene looks pretty cool and I think if unc takes it nice and slow it will be ok anyway he still had us lot here.

I did experiment with mine here and it does print off onto non label paper so I guess it is worth a try with your post then if no go then try the option I took.

One important thing I did not mention - always do a backup of the registry BEFORE changing anything:
