Where online word document was saved to.

    Hello,

My girlfriend was using an email service on IE and opened a document (via IE) and worked on changes, all the while clicking the save icon to save progress.

Where on the hard drive are these files typically saved? We've since tried to re-open the file after shutting down the computer and can't find it anywhere.

Speedy help would be very much appreciated!

It's a bit unclear what the service was she was using but maybe you could try this..

Go back into ha service and create or work on another document.
Instead of clicking on the Save icon, look for a 'Save as' option.
Clicking on that option should bring up the path where the documents will be saved to by default.

    Hope that helps some.

    OK!

Where we're at now - the file was opened as an attachment and saved in word, only it was saved as a temp file. We've had a look at the temp folder in appdata/local/temp but there are no .docx files saved there. Which is weird. Is this all the temporary files? Is it possible some files will be saved somewhere else?

As a temp file it probably won't have a docx extension.
Look in there for what may be your file saved by date/time you saved it or even by size if it was a large document.

I'm not sure how you will be able to open it however, perhaps change the extension to docx or use right-mouse open with.?

I'm not at my machine at the moment so can't test this unfortunately.

The typical default download folders are either Downloads or Documents. If you know the title, you can search for it - either in C:\ or in start/search.
