How Do I Make Microsoft Word Starter Load Faster

    Hello,

With my Windows 7 Home Premium I use Microsoft Word Starter 2010, which came preloaded to my laptop. I save much information in it's standard 'document' page. When I click on a saved document, after about 5 seconds it displays the small window "Microsoft Word Starter 2010" and goes through some process, telling me it is 'starting', 'processing' and takes a further 10 to 20 seconds for the actual document to open. This happens even when opening a blank document. Is there any way that I can speed up the opening of a document.

    Regards.

Thank you Darren for the welcome message. The link you gave opened to the web page. In that page there is a link to a page in another site which does not open. Please see the attached screen shot. I have been trying to get it, but so far no success.

    Best regards.

Hmmm. Try a different browser maybe? It opens for me in Chrome on Ubuntu, and IE9 and Firefox in W7.

    You could try a repair:
Word Starter edition is very slow. - Microsoft Community

Try to repair Office starter 2010 and verify the status.
To do so go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Select the Office 2010 suite installed > Click on Change > Repair > Continue.

    Hello Irene,

Thank you for this. I did the 'repair' a couple of weeks back but no joy. The link that 714 gave has something there. It opens a web site 'techjaws.com". It tells you to move some of the startup files of Word to another place. Unfortunately, a search in C: using the link they give, turns up blank. I tried for over an hour, everywhere in the computer.

Further, 'techjaws' page gives another help link which does not open. I got the message "You tried to visit www.theworldofoffice.com, which is not loading. I also changed my DNS server and tried with the same result using IE9, Firefox and Chrome (as 714 suggested). Pasted the URL and tried, with the same result.

So I am back to square one!

    Best regards.
