Thank you. I unchecked 'update automatic links at open', but I can't get the 'Add-inns' page. This being word 2010, the option is not there. There is no improvement in loading so far.

    Regards.

    Hello Irene,

I didn't know about this update. In your link, under 'Properties>Applies to' ,Word Starter is not mentioned (only Office Starter is in that list). Mine being Word Starter, does it apply to me?

Thank you for this tutorial. Some of the things in it I had already done and quite a few I learned from this tutorial. I did those yesterday. Word starter remains the same.

Word Starter has been like this always, about the same speed from the beginning. It doesn't look as if the computer is responsible for this because everything else about the computer is fine.

If I can access the startup programs of Word and disable the ones I never use (the majority of them), I am sure things would improve. Please see my post #7.

    Regards.

I would say yes, because 'Word' is part of the Office Suite. :)
